Voices from Our Properties
The most honest account of any residence comes from those who have lived there. Here is what they have told us.
Back to HomeWhat Those Who Have Stayed Tell Us
A selection of honest accounts from residents across all three of our Kuala Lumpur properties.
The apartment had a quality that I rarely encounter in serviced accommodation β timber beams, working louvered windows, and a courtyard garden that made mornings genuinely pleasant. The heritage host was a thoughtful touch; her recommendations led me to a walking tour of Chinatown that I would otherwise have missed. One minor observation: the kitchen, though modern, is modest in size. But given the location and the character of the space, it was a fair arrangement.
We hosted a delegation of twelve over ten days at the Federal Hill residence. The property was precisely as described β a grand building, properly staffed, with the kind of views that make a certain impression on guests. The chef was excellent and worked well with our requirements. Teratai Living arranged everything with minimal fuss on our end and were reachable throughout. It performed its function admirably.
My family spent three months at the Lake Gardens Bungalow during a research posting at University Malaya. The children walked to the Bird Park on weekends, and my husband could jog the botanical gardens each morning. The housekeeper was diligent and worked well around our schedule. The wraparound veranda became the centre of our family life in Kuala Lumpur. I would not have known to look for a property like this without Teratai Living's guidance.
I came to Kuala Lumpur for six weeks on a writing project and needed somewhere with genuine atmosphere. The Heritage Row apartment gave me exactly that β old timber, quiet courtyard mornings, and the whole of the old quarter within walking distance. Teratai Living's team did not rush me through the process, which I appreciated enormously. When a ceiling light fitting needed attention, it was sorted within the afternoon.
The bungalow had the kind of generosity of space that Kuala Lumpur's newer apartments simply do not offer. Hosting friends and family visiting from Penang felt natural and unhurried in a property of this scale. The outdoor dining under the rain tree was used far more than we expected. I referred two colleagues to Teratai Living before our tenancy had even ended.
My organisation placed our regional director in the Federal Hill residence for five months. The staff β particularly the butler and housekeeper β made the difference between a functional arrangement and a genuinely comfortable one. The views from the upper level terrace are as described. One note: the driver's schedule required some adjustment in the first week, but this was resolved promptly once we raised it with the Teratai Living team.
Residency Accounts in Detail
Academic Residency β Heritage Row Apartment, 4 Months
A historian from a European university arrived in Kuala Lumpur for a four-month fellowship at a city research institution. She needed accommodation with cultural proximity to the archival areas she was studying and a working environment conducive to writing.
We placed her in the Heritage Row Apartment, a short walk from Central Market and the National Archives. The heritage host provided walking routes and introductions to local historians. Her enquiry was handled over email, with a virtual tour arranged before her arrival.
The fellowship extended by one month, and her tenancy was extended accordingly without difficulty. She has since referred two colleagues considering KL residencies. Her feedback noted that the apartment's proximity to the research district was more valuable than any hotel stay could have been.
Corporate Family Posting β Lake Gardens Bungalow, 14 Months
A senior manager relocating from Singapore with a spouse and two children required a family residence for a fourteen-month corporate posting. School proximity and safe outdoor space were primary considerations, alongside a standard of living the family was accustomed to.
The Lake Gardens Bungalow suited the family's requirements β four bedrooms, a pool for the children, and a housekeeper to support the household through a busy posting schedule. Corporate documentation requirements were coordinated through our office with their HR department.
The full fourteen-month tenancy was completed without issue. The family reported the outdoor dining area and botanical gardens access as among the most valued aspects of the arrangement. Tenancy ended with positive feedback and a formal written commendation submitted to our office.
State-Level Hosting β Federal Hill Grand Residence, 8 Months
A diplomatic mission sought a Kuala Lumpur base for an eight-month posting for a senior official and accompanying staff. Requirements included adequate accommodation for the principal and guests, full household management, and a secure perimeter.
The Federal Hill Grand Residence was identified as the only property in our portfolio meeting the combination of scale, staff infrastructure, and security requirements. The gatehouse arrangement, full household team, and formal dining facilities for sixteen addressed all stated requirements.
The eight-month tenancy was completed. Several formal reception events were hosted on the property during the posting period. The mission subsequently enquired about a renewed arrangement for an incoming successor, which we considered a meaningful endorsement of the property and the service provided.
